OK I'm on day one of Bookmarks Base...
I bought the registered version last night and installed to a USB stick. Then I added my Bookmarks from my "Home" PC to BookmarksBase.
This morning, I used the same stick on my "Work #1" PC, and the first thing it did was only import 4 bookmarks as it thought it was an unregistered copy. I had to ring home to get the registration key details and enter them again. Is this normal, and will need to be re-done for every PC I want to use it with?

Once that was OK, I imported my "Work #1"' PC's Bookmarks (all Firefox) with the 'Merge bookmarks with current base' option ticked, only to find hundreds of duplicates left in place. Although in the Help file it says "of course, Bookmark Base will remove identical links" it seems to ignore identical link URLs and only remove the duplicate if the Name/Description is also identical. Can you confirm if this is the case?

Finally, I'm wondering about 'sorting'. One of the things I like most about Firefox is that it doesn't automatically re-sort my Bookmarks list in alphabetical order (like IE does). However, when I import into Bookmarks Base, it shows them sorted. Will this be the case with a final, merged output?

I've got some other suggestions, but I'll put those in another thread...

    Many thanks for any help
    Andy.

    Hello, Andy.

First of all - sorry for facing an error with different PC registration issue. This is a problem we are still solving.
Please, put a ticket to our support system and we will provide you with a build which has this issue fixed.

About duplicates: in current version duplicates mean bookmarks with identical URLs and titles. In future versions we will add an option where you will be able to set a criterion of duplicate manually.

In merged output bookmarks will be sorted in alphabetical order.

Thanks for the quick answers, second two not what I hoped to hear, but oh well!

Next question (there might be a few more!):
I presume the "master" list in Bookmark Base itself is held in the "BookmarkBase.bmb" file in the same directory as the .exe file.

If I want to "start again" i.e. import a new, first bookmarks file from a PC, is there an elegant way to do this? I see I can click and drag to select all the folders in the right-hand pane then right-click and delete, is that the prefered way (as I cannot do the same in the left pane), or is there an overall "start-over" option I'm missing?
Alternatively, could I just manually delete the .bmb file? Would the prog. re-generate a fresh, empty one?

EDIT - Apologies, I have just discovered I'm probably posting in the wrong forum section (I moderate another forum and know how annoying this can get!) Please move it to the "support" section... Thanks

Yep, all bookmarks are kept in .bmb file.

If you will delete it - Bookmark Base will generate a new one automatically.

It's not official functionality but you're able to switch collections of bookmarks by juggling with .bmb files. Bookmark Base looks for bookmarks in "BookmarkBase.bmb" file so if you will just rename it to "BookmarkBase.bmb.backup" - you will start from blank collection.

Note: please operate with .bmb file when Bookmark Base is not launched.

PLEASE PLEASE fix the duplicate problem. I just noticed the every time I import, the software addes the same links many many many times. The software adds charactors like |,/, %amp, and others to the link name. I have duplicate folders and urls now. It's a mess and will take me hours to clean up. The software has the potential to be Great if only that one little problem which makes the software unusable was fixed.
