How to convert bookmarks between different browsers
There are a lot of Windows browsers but we should agree that the most popular are the following:
MS Internet Explorer
Mozilla family browsers
Opera browser
They have totally different bookmark storages which cannot be easily converted. But there are some combinations of conversion directions which can be done without third-party converters. Let's see what default bookmark convertion abilities the browsers contain.
Firefox can import Opera and IE bookmarks (from the copies installed on the same PC) but have zero exporting abilities. Some pushing, do you agree?
If you want to perform imporing in Firefox 2 - go to File -> Import... menu and follow the wizard.
Internet Explorer 7 is far more funtional than Firefox from the point of view of bookmarking routines. It can import bookmarks from all Mozilla-based browsers (so called "Netscape" bookmarks file) and export them into it too. Also it can export just some folder or part of bookmarks tree into file. To perform this tasks - follow the File -> Import and Export... wizard.
Opera 9 can import Mozilla (Netscape) based browser's bookmarks and IE bookmarks but exports them only to it's own text based *.adr file. Some pushing like in Firefox but vice versa. Use File -> Import and Export -> ... Bookmarks menu to complete the operation.
If you need to perform all this tasks simultaneously in arbitrary direction - try Bookmark Base. It has no restrictions and has simple interface aimed to get the things done as soon as possible.
